About Us

DRCFC.

Established in 1981, The Disability Resource Center of Fairfield County DRCFC provides a comprehensive array of services both to the individuals and the communities of Fairfield County, Connecticut. These services embody the Independent Living philosophy...a philosophy that challenges the social attitudes and the physical barriers that stigmatize and exclude persons with disabilities from the community.

The Disability Resource Center is one of 5 Centers for Independent Living in the State of Connecticut. The other Centers are stationed in West Haven, Naugatuck, Norwich, and Hartford, CT.

There are over 350 Centers for Independent Living, known as CILs, in the United States, in addition to 150 satellite Centers.

Established in October 1997, DRCFC's website seeks to carry that philosophy of unique, consumer-directed services as the essence of Independent Living into the Internet--the new community that connects so many of us.
